Smallholder crop is coffee that was farmed from small scale orfamily farming. A smallholder farmer owns a small plot of land, usesrudimentary means of farming, and have limited or no access to finance. Thefarmer is vulnerable of getting locked in unhelpful relationship with bigtraders who hold the power and exploitatively push the crop price down.
Coffee Heritage Project believes that the success of smallholderfarming is one of the surest ways to relieve poverty in coffee growingcommunities and is committed to empowering local smallholder farmers by activelybuying smallholder crop and sharing knowledge on growing quality-focusedcoffee. If local smallholdercoffee farmers are to survive and prosper in a global free market againstefficient, well-supported, and increasingly mechanized agri-businesses, CoffeeHeritage Project acknowledges that they can do so on the basis of producingexceptional coffee quality.
