GENERAL SANTOS CITY (PIA) -- Sinimulan na kahapon, Setyembre 29, ang kauna-unahang Kape Dose Festival ng Region 12 na magtatapos naman ngayong Sabado, Oktubre 1. Ito ay may temang "Empowering Smallholder Farmers through Sustainable Coffee Partnerships."

Tampok sa nasabing 3-day exhibit sa Veranza Mall Activity Center Gensan ang samu't saring produkto ng kape ng Rehiyon Dose mulasa mga local coffee farmers ng GenSan, Kidapawan, Makilala, Sultan Kudarat, at Sarangani Province na libreng matitikman ng mga mall-goers.

Ayon kay Adrian Lariba, Regional Project Coordinatorng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) XII RAPID Growth, layunin ng festivalang palaguin ang kita ng mga smallholder farmers sa pamamagitan ng commercial partnerships.

Dagdag pa nito, nakaposisyon ngayon ang SOCSKSARGEN upang maging Coffee Capital of the Philippines, dahil sa pinakamalaking kontribusyon nito na 32.4% sa total domestic coffee production, lalo na sa coffee variety na Robusta.

Isang Memorandum of understanding ang pinirmahan sa pagitanng DTI XII, Coffee Heritage Project, at Nestle Philippines Inc. upang mapagtibay ang pagtutulungan ng gobyerno at private sectors sa proyektong maykaugnayan sa pagpapabuti ng coffee industry ng Region 12.

Inaanyayahan naman ni Region 12 Coffee Council Chairman Ronan Eugene Garcia, ang lahat ng mga imbitadong ahensya ng gobyerno,LGU, mga pribadong kumpanya, at publiko na makiisa sa pagsulong at pagtangkilik sa masarap na kape ng Region 12 dahil ito aniya ang makatutulong sa pag-aayosng buhay ng mahigit sa 15 libong pamilyang umaasa sa kape.
